I am a PhD candidate in the biofabrication group, with a background in Biomedical Engineering. My main interests are medical device design, biomaterials, and developing engineering solutions for clinical problems.
My research focuses on developing the next generation of endobronchial valves for the treatment of severe emphysema. These small one-way valves are placed inside the airways to allow trapped air to leave diseased parts of the lung while preventing new air from entering. I am investigating how the valve geometry, materials, and mechanical properties can be optimized to improve airflow control, long-term stability, and interaction with the surrounding airway tissue. The project combines device design, advanced manufacturing techniques, and in-vitro testing in realistic airway models.
